Founded in the 1970s, the Shanghai Aircraft Design Institute of China Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd. is the only large and medium-sized civil aircraft design institute in China. COMAC is the main body of the national large-scale aircraft major and large-scale passenger aircraft project, and is also the main carrier to coordinate the development of mainline and regional aircraft and realize the industrialization of China's civil aircraft. The company has a registered capital of 19 billion yuan and is headquartered in Shanghai. Zhang Qingwei served as chairman and secretary of the party committee, and Jin Zhuanglong served as vice chairman and general manager. The Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute of the former China Aviation Industry Corporation No. 1 entered the COMAC as a COMAC R & D center.
